Solar panels installed on a large commercial farm building roof in Scotland

Who this is for

We help Scottish farms, rural estates, commercial businesses, warehouses, hospitality venues, schools, and community buildings reduce their electricity costs with on-site solar generation and battery storage. If you have roof space, land, or a high daytime electricity bill, a commercial solar and battery system can cut your running costs and protect you from future price rises.

Farms & rural estates

Barn roofs, outbuildings, and ground-mounted arrays for agricultural operations.

Commercial & industrial

Warehouses, factories, offices, and retail units with large roof areas.

Hospitality & public sector

Hotels, schools, community buildings, and visitor centres.

What we install

Our MCS-certified installation partners design and fit complete commercial renewable energy systems across Scotland:

  • Commercial solar PV — rooftop or ground-mounted arrays from 10 kWp to 100+ kWp
  • Battery storage — commercial-scale lithium-ion systems to store excess generation
  • EV charging — single points to multi-bay hubs, integrated with solar
  • Heat pumps — air-source and ground-source for larger buildings

How savings work for a business

The amount a commercial solar and battery system saves depends on several factors specific to your business:

  • Daytime usage — businesses that consume electricity during daylight hours benefit most, as they use solar generation directly instead of buying from the grid at peak rates.
  • Electricity tariff — the higher your unit rate and standing charge, the greater the saving per kWh of self-generated electricity.
  • Roof or ground space — more space means a larger array and more generation, but even modest roof areas can meaningfully reduce bills.
  • Export income — surplus generation exported to the grid earns money under a SEG tariff, adding to your total benefit.

We do not quote savings figures without first surveying your property and reviewing your actual electricity bills. Every business is different, and a realistic estimate requires real data.

How it works

1. Site survey

We visit your premises, assess roof or ground area, check your consumer unit and existing infrastructure, and review your electricity bills.

2. Design

Within 48 hours you receive a written design and quote covering panels, battery, EV charging, or heat pump as required.

3. Installation

Our MCS-certified installation partners carry out the full installation — typically 2–5 days depending on system size. All G99 DNO applications handled.

4. Aftercare

Commissioning, monitoring setup, and ongoing support. We are available by phone for any questions after installation.

Finance

Interest-free credit up to £30,000, subject to status. Call 0141 230 0198 to discuss your options.

What size solar system does a farm or business need?

It depends on your daytime electricity usage, available roof or ground area, and whether you add battery storage. A small farm workshop may suit 10–20 kWp, while a large warehouse with high daytime demand could justify 50–100 kWp or more. We size every system from your actual consumption data during the no-obligation site survey.

Can I export excess solar electricity to the grid?

Yes. Any surplus generation not used on-site or stored in batteries can be exported under a Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) tariff. The rate depends on your supplier and tariff. We advise on the best export arrangement during the design stage and handle all G99 grid connection applications on your behalf.

Do you install EV charging alongside commercial solar?

Yes. We install commercial EV charging points from single units to multi-bay hubs, integrated with your solar and battery system so vehicles charge from on-site generation first. This reduces fuel costs for fleet vehicles and can qualify for enhanced capital allowances where applicable.

How long does a commercial installation take?

From enquiry to commissioning typically 4–10 weeks. The site survey happens within 1–2 working days, design and quote within 48 hours, G99 DNO approval 11–30 working days, and the physical installation 2–5 days depending on system size and roof complexity. We submit all paperwork immediately to minimise delays.

Is finance available for commercial solar and battery projects?

Interest-free credit up to £30,000, subject to status. For larger commercial projects, we can introduce you to specialist commercial finance providers who understand renewable energy investments. Call 0141 230 0198 to discuss your options and find out whether finance is suitable for your business circumstances.
